TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler tossed a second consecutive shutout over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday afternoon to complete the series sweep with a 5-0 victory.

Starter Kolby Parker and reliever Logan Henderson combined to toss 9.0 shutout innings of baseball, scattering just six hits on the day, to keep the Greyhounds off the scoreboard for a second-straight outing after yesterday evening’s 6-0 game three victory. Catcher Blake LuBuda provided the big hit in a four-run bottom half of the third inning with a three-RBI double to left center.

The Patriots quickly added two more runs to that 3-0 advantage with RBI from Kaston Mason and Ethan Bedgood and then leaned on the continued pitching dominance the rest of the way in. Parker allowed just one Greyhound to advance into scoring position in his first five innings of work and stranded the bases loaded to get through his lone jam of the afternoon unscathed in the top of the sixth.

The Patriot offense seized control of the game in the bottom of the third, loading the bases with three straight singles from Nathan Carriere, Connor Clark, and Ethan Bedgood. LaBuda delivered on the opportunity with two outs on the board, driving a ball to left center deep enough to allow all three Patriots to score on the bases-clearing double.

Mason followed up that extra-base hit with a single, scoring LaBuda to make it 4-0. Bedgood added the fifth and final run of the day for UT Tyler in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly to left that scored second baseman, Jordan Ardoin.

Parker worked through a pair of singles and a walk in a key top of the sixth inning, flying out the third out of the frame to leave three Greyhounds aboard and the score at 5-0. Henderson took over from that point in the top of the seventh, also working through a jam after a walk and hit by pitch in his first inning to keep the shutout in place.

The righty stranded a Greyhound at third for the second-straight inning in the eighth and then struck out the final batter of the weekend in the ninth to notch the three-inning save.

Parker allowed just five hits, struck out three, and moved to 2-1 on the year with the victory. Henderson struck out a pair in his 3.0 innings of relief effort, earning his first save of the season.

LaBuda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Carriere went 2-for-2 at the top of the Patriot order and drew a pair of walks.

UT Tyler finished the afternoon with eight hits as a club and drew seven walks. All five runs were scored by a different Patriot.

The Patriots move to 21-14 on the year and in conference play following their first Lone Star Conference series sweep of the 2024 season.

UT Tyler will travel to Lawton, Okla. for next weekend’s road series at Cameron.
