'Make Us Believers,' a Lenten season Passion Play, to be staged in Beaver & Moon Township

BEAVER ― "Make Us Believers," a musical opera of The Passion of Jesus Christ, will be performed at 7 p.m. March 26 at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Beaver.

A separate "Make Us Believers" performance will take place at 5 p.m. March 24 at St. Margaret Mary Church, Moon Township.

Bob Summers, youth minister of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, in Moon and Coraopolis, wrote and directs the performance, which he originated at St. Aidan's Parish in McCandless Township.

Performing will be actors of all ages and experience levels, organized by Summers. Most are from Moon Township, with some from Midland, Hopewell Township, the Wexford area and other parts of Allegheny County. Some were in the original production; some are brand new.

There's a suggested $5 donation at the door for the Beaver performance, benefitting the Knights of Columbus Faith-in-Action community programs.

A suggested $5 donation for the Moon show will go to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Youth Ministry summer mission trip to serve the poor in Kentucky.
