CHILLICOTHE -- The United Way of Ross County has worked to increase the quality of life for citizens in the area in one way or another since the 1940s. Now with a new president and CEO, and a team filled with experience, the organization is working even harder to help those in the community.

In recent years the United Way of Ross County has helped provide $1.7 million by helping with over 1,500 tax returns, over 43,000 meals for elementary students who are food insecure over the weekends, books to over 2,800 children through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, fresh fruits and vegetables to nearly 10,000 individuals through produce markets and much more.

Andrea Williams officially became the new president and CEO of the Ross County United Way at the end of April. Growing up Williams always knew she wanted to help others and she has done exactly that as she has worked with various not-for-profit organizations throughout her career.

With her work, she was always familiar with Ross County and its specific needs as a rural community that faces many metropolitan issues which is why when the opportunity opened to join the United Way in Ross County she knew she needed to take the leap.

"I am so happy to be in Ross County and I feel we can really make a difference," said Williams.

Part of what makes Ross County so special, according to Williams, is the people. So far she has loved connecting with the community and seeing the pride those in it have for the area. She hopes to work with those around her to reach her goals such as offering more educational classes and improving the 211 helpline that connects those in need to resources around them.

To accomplish these goals and meet the needs of the community Williams will be working with community partners, volunteers and United Way board members and staff like Kasha Henning and Kathy Murphy who have been serving the community for over 25 years combined.

"When we create partnerships we have more leverage to solve problems," said Williams.
