UM Health-West appoints chief medical officer

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — University of Michigan Health-West has chosen its next chief medical officer.

Dr. Clifford Suhyun Cho will take on the role, the health care system announced Wednesday in a release. Cho, a “renowned” surgeon with 20 years of experience, joined the Michigan Medicine faculty in 2016, according to the release. Since then, he has taken on leadership roles like vice chair of surgical oncology and clinical care chief of cancer surgery.

“I am honored to join the leadership team at UM Health-West,” Cho said in a statement. “I look forward to expanding world-class healthcare in West Michigan, enhancing patient care and medical innovation in our community.”

UM Health-West says Cho will oversee the system’s medical leadership, work within the Cancer Network and continue his cancer research.
