UETHDA: Energy assistance program continues in April

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL)—The Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency (UETHDA) announced Thursday that it would continue its energy assistance program in April, offering help with energy bills to people in the region.

UETHDA’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) prioritizes low-income, energy-burdened, disabled, elderly, homes with children under 6, veterans and large households.

Those interested in getting assistance may also visit one of the nine area neighborhood service centers or call (423) 246-6180.

According to a news release from UETHDA, payments can take up to 90 days to be applied. The payment is sent directly to the recipient’s utility company. Last year, UETHDA provided LIHEAP funding to 11,730 households, totaling more than $5.7 million.
