U.S. Navy Blue Angels No. 7 arrives for weekend air show at Vero Beach Regional Airport
VERO BEACH −The elite team with the iconic blue-and-yellow F/A-18 Super Hornet jets headline the 2024 Vero Beach Air Show this weekend at Vero Beach Regional Airport.
U.S. Navy Blue Angel Lt. Connor O'Donnell and Aviation Electrician's Mate (AE2) Sean Donoghue arrived Wednesday morning in the No. 7 plane. The rest of the team and Fat Albert will arrive Thursday morning.
Fat Albert is a nickname given to the Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules that carries the team’s maintenance and support equipment. It always takes to the skies with aerobatic maneuvers before the Blue Angels.
The Blue Angels will perform Saturday and Sunday, but not Friday. Their performance times aren't disclosed to avoid traffic jams.
The Friday night show includes pyrotechnics and a fireworks display. On Saturday and Sunday, planes fly from noon to 4 p.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. for static displays on the ground, food vendors and children's activities.
The Blue Angels started coming to the Vero Beach Air Show in 2014. They returned in 2018 and 2022.
