U.S. marshals arrest Akron man accused of killing Jimmy Fletcher in February hit-skip

U.S. marshals arrested a 23-year-old Akron man who they believe killed Jimmy Fletcher, 47, in a fatal hit-and-run crash in early February.

David Farren was arrested in the morning hours on Monday in the 100 block of Bowdoin Lane, near West Thornton Street, said Anne Murphy, public affairs officer for the U.S. Marshals Service. He initially hid in a house, but complied and was arrested without incident.

Court documents show he is charged with hit skip and aggravated vehicular homicide.

Fletcher was struck by a white sedan while riding his bike north on South Arlington Street. The sedan turned onto Ray Street, leaving the scene, police said.

The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Feb. 9. Officers found Fletcher on the ground. He was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead on Feb. 12.
