Two people shot in Elmira home invasion, robbery. Suspects sought by police.

Elmira police are on the lookout for a suspect or suspects after a shooting Friday afternoon that left two people injured.

Around 1:10 p.m., police officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Johnson Street for a reported shooting, according to the Elmira Police Department.

Arriving officers located two males, one juvenile and one adult, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital for additional medical care, police said.

Police investigators conducted interviews and canvassed the immediate neighborhood. Investigators believe the shooting took place in the course of a home invasion robbery and that the residence was specifically targeted.

Police offered no description or any other information about possible suspects in the shooting.

The investigation remains active and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Elmira Police Department at 607-737-5626, or leave a message on the anonymous tip-line at 607-271-HALT.

Elmira police were assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the Elmira Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance.
