Two-year fugitive accused of child sex crimes arrested in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A fugitive on the run for more than two years in connection with child sex crimes was recently arrested in Franklin County.

Paul Edward Burks II, 41, of Catawissa, Missouri, was charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child in November 2021.

According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Burks was evading arrest as authorities followed up on several leads over the last few years. Crawford County authorities collaborated with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Burks.

“I would like to announce the capture of one of Crawford County’s Most Wanted persons, said Sheriff Darin Layman. “Burks is in custody and the judicial process can proceed. Hopefully, some closure for the persons involved with these crimes can begin.”

Burks is jailed in Crawford County on a $100,000 bond.
