3 QUESTIONS
...about the NCAA women's tournament Final Four
Four powerhouse teams are playing tonight. To break down all of the action, I talked to Cassandra Negley, a longtime women’s basketball fan who’s covered the sport since 2019.
Lily: Give me a preview. Who’s playing in tonight’s Final Four?
Cassandra: It’s a fun one! Iowa and UConn face off in a battle of two of the nation’s top players, Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. Undefeated South Carolina takes on preseason surprise N.C. State.
Lily: It’s N.C. State’s first time in the Final Four in 26 years. Do they have a fighting chance against South Carolina, who are unbeaten?
Cassandra: It’s “March.” Of course they do! N.C. State’s guards, led by Aziaha James, can get hot in a hurry. And we’ve seen South Carolina blow big leads lately.
Lily: Beyond the dynamite players, who are the side characters who will make for great TV tonight?
Cassandra: We love Ryan Ruocco's energy when announcing plays, and Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird are always a hoot on their ESPN megacast. See how many times you catch an innuendo or red Solo cup from Taurasi.
