If Trump is to spew nonsense at the next presidential debate, throw the whole event away.

Don't bother with debates

Speaking presumptively for President Joe Biden supporters and certainly for myself, we don’t want a presidential debate. I don’t want to see any more of the loud, rude, anti-government truth-twister on TV or anywhere else. If people want to know the truth about the border, about crime in the United States, about the history of Israel and its neighbors, they can and should Google it. It won’t come from an uncontrollable debate for a mere hour on television.

Stop publishing Trump falsehoods

A recent letter argued "Trump Deserves Your Vote," then proceeded to tell a number of lies to support that position. One that particularly stood out was the lie that "No one dared test Trump," which led to international peace. This is blatantly untrue. Under Trump's leadership, aid to Ukraine was withheld for Trump's corrupt personal gain, which ultimately led to his first impeachment, which Republicans in the Senate blocked not because he was innocent but because Republicans don't support justice or international security. Additionally, because Trump controls the GOP, aid to Ukraine continued to be withheld, allowing Russia to kill untold numbers of civilians. It is also worth noting that Trump was directly the reason why the Afghanistan government fell to the Taliban. He sold out everyone by signing a peace treaty that allowed them to take over. Finally, the letter writer discussed Iran, and it is worth noting that Iran resumed its nuclear activities as a direct result of Trump’s international weakness and isolationism. There is no need to publish letters that are lying to support Trump.

Former President Donald Trump leaves some wondering if a debate between him and President Joe Biden is worth it.
Former President Donald Trump leaves some wondering if a debate between him and President Joe Biden is worth it.

A reason for a presidential debate: Trump asks, 'Better off today than 4 years ago?' Biden says yes, adds: 'Let's talk about it.'

Trump supporter missed the big one

Surely, the letter writer missed the obvious. Donald Trump declared war on the United States every day of his administration. Jan. 6 was his crowning glory. He and his followers were going to seize power using the last refuge of the incompetent — violence. And I always thought Trump Derangement Syndrome referred to folks who believed him.

Where's the outcry against Hamas?

I will never understand why there isn't a greater outcry against Hamas' genocide of the Gaza population. Hamas started the war, the cowardly Hamas fighters continue to hide within and even under the Gazan population. If Hamas would return the innocent Israeli babies and adults that they brutally took hostage on Oct. 7, the war would be over.

Abortions aren't meant for politics

Since the early 1930's the medical profession established certification to insure that those who were properly educated had the expertise to provide patient care in the best and most effective manner possible. This established quality has now been, because of politics, challenged by allowing lawyers, judges and legislators with little or no knowledge of medicine to decide whether a woman can have or should have an abortion. Vote to give women the right to choose and preserve the quality of medical care.
