Vehicles damaged after truck collides into overpass in Raleigh

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A truck ran into the overpass of a bridge located on James Road Tuesday morning, forcing the area to close.

The area had to close a little after 7 a.m. due to concrete falling during the incident.

Several drivers are now left figuring out how to fix their car after the damages.

Tamera Martin Payne told WREG she was driving to work when her car was damaged. “When it hit it was a loud thump. So, I could hear something crack under it but I couldn’t see anything. It wasn’t until I pulled over that I could see the smoke,” she said.

She wasn’t the only one who had to pull over.

“There were a few of us that came through, and it looks like only my car is the most damaged. I got transmission fluid all over the place. “

Payne said the rocks were scattered across three lanes. “You wouldn’t be able to cross at any point without hitting your car on one of those larger rocks.”

At this time, no injuries have been reported, just damage to the flyover. Officers said if charges are filed it could be for striking a fixed object
