MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Friday, the National Civil Rights Museum will conclude its four-part series about racial violence and finding actual solutions.

The previous meetings were titled The Reckoning, The Resolve and The Restoration. Friday is The Resilience.

This series focuses on having those tough conversations about what can be done better and finding solutions to keep everyone safe.

Tyre Nichols’ parents have been at the forefront, talking about the moments they learned about his beating by former Memphis police officers.

Tyre Nichols and Memphis Police: What we Know

At the last meeting, Tyre’s mother, Rowvaughn Wells, spoke about the moment officers came to her door.

“When those police officers came to my door and told me that my son was arrested for DUI, [they were] intentionally lying to me,” she started. “When the truth came out, you had these police officers that you are supposed to trust lying to the community. If that sky camera was not there, we wouldn’t have known anything. We didn’t even know our son was 800 feet away. I asked them where my son was, and they said nearby.”
