Toronto is in for a wet and windy Friday, according to Environment Canada.

The city is expected to see strong blasts of wind with gusts of 70 to 80 kilometres an hour Friday evening, which is expected to ease into Saturday morning.

Environment Canada warns locals to watch for loose objects or tree branches during this period, and brace for potential utility outages.

The federal weather agency also put the city under a rainfall alert, which has since been lifted. It warned residents to expect Thursday's rain to continue into Friday, with 10 to 15 millimetres of additional rainfall amounts expected.

Periods of rain are still expected this afternoon, with showers later in the night.
