Toronto police say they have located a man with dementia who went missing earlier this week.

The man was found on Thursday at 4:20 p.m., police said in a news release.

On Wednesday, police said the man was spotted in Scarborough on surveillance video in the area of Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road.

The man left his home in North York on Tuesday, in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue W., and had been last seen at about 12 p.m. near Sheppard Avenue W. and Torbarrie Road. Police believed that he walked from his home in North York to Scarborough, a "considerable distance," according to Toronto police Duty Insp. Jeff Bangild .

Police searched the area where he was last seen, distributed flyers and went door to door to businesses and residences in Scarborough.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Duty Insp. Scott Shutt said police had deemed the search to be a high priority.

The man's daughters also called on the public for help in finding their dad.
