It should have been President Hillary Clinton. Here's why it's not

There was no better proof of how we have failed as voters than the scene at last week's NAACP convention, where former President Bill Clinton presented me with the group's award for outstanding achievement. As I told 2,000 attendees in San Antonio, if we had all done our job and voted in 2016, it would have been President Hillary Clinton making the presentation. It got a laugh, but it is the bitter truth. President Trump is where he is today because of our collective failure to militantly and consistently participate in the political process. After our tremendous victory in electing Barack Obama twice, we had to know that we were in for a fight in 2016. Hillary Clinton lost the presidency not

Kaine challenger prompts laughter by saying Trump is 'standing up' to Russia

A time keeper holds a sign as Tim Kaine, left, and Republican challenger Corey Stewart, right, debate in Hot Springs, Virginia. The first US Senate debate in Virginia went mostly according to script on Saturday, with few of the fireworks some thought likely from a meeting between a Trumpist challenger and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 vice-presidential pick. The challenger, Corey Stewart, a far-right elected official in northern Virginia, repeatedly praised Donald Trump and attacked his opponent as “weak” and “an ultra-liberal”, automatically opposed to every action of the Trump administration.

THE 'ACCESS HOLLYWOOD' SCANDAL  The second debate with Hillary Clinton was to take place on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Washington University in St Louis. As I took my seat on the plane flying from Reagan National Airport to St Louis, Mo., my phone chimed. I had a message from [political operative] Katie Walsh. 'We have a problem. Look at the e-mail I just sent you.' On the plane, as discretely as I could, I read a transcript Katie had flagged as urgent. It was not good. But it was a transcript, and perhaps it was inaccurate. Then came a second e-mail from Katie. There was a video that had been leaked to The Washington Post. The video had been recorded in 2005, and it captured a raunchy conversation

Despite their spat, Donald Trump and JK Rowling may have more in common than they think

Donald Trump tweeted out on Tuesday morning: “After having written many best selling books, and somewhat priding myself on my ability to write, it should be noted that the Fake News constantly likes to pour over my tweets looking for a mistake. Evil has its social expression in an obsession with blood lines, ancestry and magic as an inherited attribute.

Russian operatives blasted 18,000 tweets ahead of a huge news day during the 2016 presidential campaign. Did they know what was coming?

By the time they finished, more than 18,000 had been sent through cyberspace toward unwitting American voters, making it the busiest day by far in a disinformation operation whose aftermath is still roiling U.S. politics. The reason for this burst of activity on Oct. 6, 2016, documented in a new trove of 3 million Russian tweets collected by Clemson University researchers, is a mystery that has generated intriguing theories but no definitive explanation. The theories attempt to make sense of how such a heavy flow of Russian disinformation might be related to what came immediately after, on Oct.7. This was the day when Wikileaks began releasing embarrassing emails that Russian intelligence operatives had stolen from the campaign chairman for Democrat Hillary Clinton, revealing sensitive internal conversations that would stir controversy for weeks.
