The primary contests for the 2024 Republican and Democratic presidential nominations are still underway, but former President Donald Trump and President Biden have already won the delegates they need to secure their party nods.

On the GOP side, Trump's wins in Iowa, New Hampshire and most Super Tuesday states led to all of his top rivals, including former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, to withdraw from the race.

President Biden also dominated a similar slate of contests against a thin Democratic field in his bid for reelection.

Biden and Trump, who ran against each other in 2020, are now set for a rematch. The last time that happened was in 1956, when President Dwight Eisenhower won a second time against Democrat Adlai Stevenson.
