Tifton announces plans for Georgia Cities Week

Apr. 18—TIFTON — The City of Tifton has announced its plans for Georgia Cities Week.

At the conclusion of the April 15 city council meeting, city manager Emily Beeman reported that the city's plans for the municipality and city employee appreciation celebration had been finalized, with festivities beginning April 22.

Monday, April 22, will begin the event with an invitation to City Hall, encouraging community members to sample and peruse the Citizens' Art Collection, a gallery of almost 40 works of art gathered from local artists. Publix employees are also expected to help tidy up around Fulwood Park.

Customer Appreciation Day is planned to be the focus of Tuesday, welcoming residents once again to City Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., this time for a selection of snacks while supplies last.

City officials, including members of the city council, will pay a visit to Tift County High School Wednesday, making themselves available for conversations and questions from the high school's students. City representatives reported that Administrative Professionals Day will also be celebrated.

On Thursday, the city will celebrate Employee Appreciation Day, thanking their city employees for their hard work with a free lunch.

Friday will showcase a trio of events, beginning with a ribbon cutting of the new playground at Fulwood Park at 4:15 p.m., a Touch-A-Truck event featuring a motley of police cars, fire trucks, and public works equipment until 6 p.m., and finishing with a free showing of the movie "Big Hero 6" at the Tift Theatre.

Finally, the celebration week will conclude with a Tire Drop-Off event at Cato Knight parking lot, inviting residents to drop off up to ten of their old tires for free from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
