The National Park Service on Monday released dozens of photographs of President Donald Trump’s inauguration that appear to counter Trump’s claim that up to 1.5 million attended the event at the Capitol and National Mall. The photos were released in response to news media requests made through the Freedom of Information Act. The photos show the 2009 event far outstripped the number of people who attended Trump’s inauguration.

OK, so Taoray Wang isn’t a household name in the United States, but it is the name of the Chinese woman whose designs Tiffany Trump has worn twice now to major political events supporting her father’s ascent to the White House. The first time Tiffany wore Wang to a political event was during the first presidential debate in September. Thank you for choosing TAORAY WANG! We are thrilled and proud to see how our design comes to life with you radiating elegance, confidence and power.
On Friday morning, the world watched as Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States. By his side was his wife, Melania, the first lady, wearing a full, custom Ralph Lauren ensemble. Melania Trump wears a pale blue Ralph Lauren ensemble to her husband’s inauguration.
For inauguration events, Ivanka Trump wore three Oscar de la Renta ensembles. But for the grand finale, the first daughter switched things up and opted for a piece from Carolina Herrera.
Michelle Obama may now be the former first lady, but on the Internet, she’s being celebrated as the reigning shade queen, thanks to her facial expressions on Inauguration Day.
There was no poetry read during the inauguration of Donald Trump early Friday afternoon. “It’s going to be only America first, America first,” said Trump, who gave a raised-fist salute at both the start and the finish of his speech. In a phrase that was immediately taken up and spread like wildfire on social media, Trump invoked “American carnage”: “The crime, and the gangs, and the drugs that have stolen so many lives… This American carnage stops right here, right now.” Of course, to those who oppose Trump, “American carnage” became one more bit of foreshadowing of the gloom-and-doom Trump’s critics believe his presidency ushers in.

Friday’s forecast in Washington, D.C. is predicting rain during Donald Trump’s inauguration, meaning there is a possibility that it may literally rain on the soon-to-be president’s parade. But Mr. Trump isn’t worried about a little inclement weather. Actually, he sees it as an opportunity to once and for all kill the speculation around his hair, which to this day puzzles lots of people. Seriously, how does it move in the wind as one unit like that?
While the world is fixated on President Trump and his family, Hillary Clinton arrived at the Capitol wearing a white — you guessed it — pantsuit.
Tiffany Trump wore a jacket from the Ivanka Trump clothing line on Jan. 19 in New York. On the eve of the inauguration, members of the Trump family stepped out in a number of cold-weather looks by various designers. First Lady Melania Trump wore a Norisol Ferrari military-inspired knee-length coat, while Ivanka opted for a green look from Oscar de la Renta that she paired with pumps of her own design.
I moved to Washington in the weekend of the Promise Keeper’s March in October of 1997. A very nice man who was in town for the march saw me and a friend struggling to move a mattress up the stairs into a Dupont Circle apartment building, and volunteered on the spot to help us lug it up three flights of stairs to the room I was renting for $425 in a unit shared with two other recent college grads. Indeed by 1998, the city would reach its post-World War II population nadir.
On the eve of Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th president of the United States, celebrities bring their star power to a rally in front of Trump International Hotel and Tower to protest the incoming president-elect.
President Obama says his priorities after leaving the White House are to write, spend time with his family and take some time for quiet reflection. “I’m still a citizen and I think it is important for Democrats or progressives who feel that they came out on the wrong side of this election to be able to distinguish between the normal back and forth, ebb and flow of policy,” Obama said Wednesday during his last press conference in Washington as president. Among them, the president said, are “systematic discrimination,” voter suppression, “institutional efforts to silence dissent or the press” and the targeting of so-called DREAMers, or children who immigrated into the country illegally with their parents.
Barack Obama has reached the end of his consequential eight-year presidency. As the nation's first African-American commander in chief and his wife prepare to leave the White House behind, Yahoo News takes you through his two terms - the exultation over the raid that killed Osama bin laden, the heartbreak of the massacre of children in Newtown, the tumultuous implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the controversial Iran nuclear deal, the outreach to Cuba, and many other signal moments and policies. There are also many quiet, behind-the-scenes snapshots, family time with first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia, or the unforgettable photo of the little boy who asked to touch the president's hair.
It goes something like this: The president-elect of the United States tweets something no president-elect has ever said, and certainly never tweeted, before. All of this raises a number of questions as this president-elect becomes president: Is his unfiltered spew of thought really unprecedented? Just before the controversial nomination of Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., to head the Department of Health and Human Services, for instance, Trump tweeted that flag burning should be illegal.
Retired Marine Gen. James Cartwright. President Obama gave a full pardon Tuesday to retired Gen. James “Hoss” Cartwright, who was convicted of lying to the FBI during an investigation into a leak about American efforts to sabotage the Iranian nuclear program. The pardon followed an intense lobbying campaign on behalf of Cartwright that included expressions of support, relayed by Cartwright’s lawyer, from former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, according to sources familiar with the effort.
On Jan. 20, Joe Biden officially hands over the vice president's office, a capstone on a career that has spanned decades in electoral politics. Among other things, his tenure in the White House has seen him strike a clear friendship with President Obama, who picked the then-Delaware senator as running mate after securing the 2008 Democratic nomination. Here's a look back at the past eight years of Vice President Biden. President Obama joins B.B. King singing “Sweet Home Chicago” at the White House for the Red, White and Blues concert in February 2012. Not since the early ’90s, when Bill Clinton played saxophone on The Arsenio Hall Show and inspired R.E.M. and 10,000 Maniacs to perform at MTV’s Inaugural Ball, have we had such a rockin’ president as Barack Obama.
Country artist Lee Greenwood, best known for his patriotic hit “God Bless the U.S.A.,” is scheduled to perform for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration during the “Make America Great Again!” Welcome Celebration on Jan. 19, the day before he is sworn in. Additionally, Greenwood’s fellow country artist Toby Keith, as well as singer Jennifer Holliday and Southern rock band 3 Doors Down, have been added to the lineup for the pre-inauguration concert, the Inaugural Committee said Friday.
