Summer lunch program to start June 3

May 27—The Summer Food Service program to feed Ashtabula County children is set to begin on June 3 at nine sites throughout Ashtabula County, said Barbara Klingensmith, executive director of Country Neighbor, which administers the program.

The meals are provided without charge, and are available on a "grab-and-go" basis, Klingensmith said. She said children are allowed one meal per day, per program, so if they receive a free meal through another program they can not get a second meal.

Klingensmith said two new partners are involved in the program this year. The Ashtabula County Juvenile Court will coordinate a site in Geneva, and Youth Opportunities will administer a site on West Avenue in Ashtabula.

She also said that people need to pay attention to the time slots advertised, as the food can only be given out during the designated times.
