BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge mayor’s office wants more local businesses to apply to participate as host sites in a summer initiative offering youth jobs.

According to Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, the Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience already has hundreds of young people signed up for this year but there remains a need for more businesses. This program is free for businesses, and the city pays the stipends for the youth.

“The success of this year’s Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience depends on participation by local businesses. The more businesses that host youth, the more young people can participate in the program. This initiative is crucial in helping to foster a peaceful community during the summer months while building our next generation of leaders in Baton Rouge,” said Broome.
