Storms, storms, and more storms throughout the weekend

Storms, storms, and more storms throughout the weekend

What We’re Tracking

  • Strong and severe storms possible Friday and Saturday

  • Very windy, even without storms

  • More rain Sunday

Rain is continuing to move off to the East this morning as we hold on to cloud cover for our viewing area. Winds are already breezy to start out and will continue to be an issue over the next few days.

We’ll have another chance for storms later this afternoon and evening as the upper level system continues to move eastward. We’ll also see very strong winds, without the storms, as this system passes through. Wind gusts for Friday through Sunday will likely be on the order of 40-45 mph.

The best chance to see storms redevelop in the afternoon Friday will be in the northeastern corner of our area and into northwestern Missouri. All modes of severe weather will be possible with this activity, including a threat for a few tornadoes.

Additional rounds of storms are also possible for Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening hours. There are some indications that the strongest storms may occur on Saturday. Once again, all types of severe weather appear to be possible Saturday evening, but with multiple rounds of storms likely before that arrives, we’ll be fine tuning that in the coming days.

Moral of the story: make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings in the coming days, and pay attention to weather updates between now and Sunday.
