State police say man who died in I-295 ramp crash was not wearing a seat belt

CHESTER − State police say a Chesterfield County man was killed early Monday in a single-car crash on one of the exit ramps from state Route 10 to Interstate 295.

Christopher Jamal Valentine, 37, of Midlothian, was on the ramp from Route 10 east onto I-295 south when his 2012 Toyota Camry ran off the left side of the road and hit multiple trees, state police Sgt. Jessica Shehan said. He was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
