HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has signed into law a bill that would add a constitutional amendment on the November ballot to protect abortion rights.

Del. Lesley Lopez (D-Montgomery County) is president of the Women’s Caucus at the State House in Annapolis.

“Sixteen states have abortion bans. In the past year Maryland clinics have seen a 25% increase in folks coming from other states coming to get care in Maryland,” Lopez said.

She is running for Congress this year in Maryland’s Sixth District for the seat that incumbent U.S. Rep. David Trone is vacating as he campaigns for the U.S. Senate.
