BRIDGETON, Mo. – A St. Louis County classic car shop recently acquired a rare piece of presidential history: A limousine used by former U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy.

The vehicle is a black 1964 Chrysler Imperial Crown. It’s part of the inventory at Daniel Schmitt & Co. at 3455 N. Lindbergh Blvd. The limousine is now part of Daniel Schmitt & Co.’s viewing experience, and it’s also for sale.

Historians say that Jackie Kennedy used this limo in November 1963 for the funeral procession to Arlington Cemetery for her husband, 35th U.S. president John F. Kennedy, after his assassination. The vehicle also appeared in Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidential inauguration, and the White House’s motor pool used it to escort him on several occasions.

The vehicle is one of only 10 of its kind produced, and the White House specifically ordered it in 1961, according to a news release from Solomon Turner PR. It’s logged roughly 15,000 miles. The vehicle’s engine and seats are still in their original form.

“We are excited to have secured this special vehicle and are offering it for an investment-minded collector, enthusiast, or museum curator who appreciates the importance and rarity of this iconic motorcar,” said Daniel Schmitt, operator of Daniel Schmitt & Co.

The vehicle also features two pull-out seats for general use, six power windows and rear-seat radio control.

Schmitt & Co. lists the vehicle with a showroom price of $350,000 or a buy-it-now price of $299,900.
