Soli Deo Gloria Choir offers free concert Saturday

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — In celebration of its 50-year-impact on the Southern Colorado community, the Soli Deo Gloria Choir (SDG) is offering a free celebratory concert at the Broadmoor.

It’s happening Saturday, March 30 in the Broadmoor’s International Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance is free, however tickets are required and must be secured in advance through the Broadmoor’s website.

The SDG is a diverse, non-denominational assembly of talented singers from the Pikes Peak Region under the guidance of Artistic Director Nathaniel Voelker.

“There’s about 120 singers in the group right now and it is quite a diverse group,” said Voelker. “Currently we are ranging from age 14 to 88.” Voelker said the music they perform is eclectic in nature, but always sacred. “Sacred means different things to different people.”

“Sacred is a term that really depends on the culture that you come from and we sing music from all kinds of different cultures and beliefs, practices, things like that,” said Voelker.

The next concert by the Soli Deo Gloira Choir is scheduled for May 4, 2023 titled “Cosmic Embrace,” featuring music inspired by C.S. Lewis’ “Space Trilogy.”
