Slidell driver killed in Bridge City crash

BRIDGE CITY, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Slidell driver dead in Bridge City on Tuesday, April 23.

The LSP reported the crash happened on U.S. 90 near Nine Mile Point Road and Seven Oaks Boulevard around 11:30 p.m.

They said an initial investigation shows 44-year-old Xavier Gonzales was driving a Chevrolet east on U.S. 90 when he reportedly traveled off the road and hit a bridge support.

Gonzales suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the LSP, Gonzales was unrestrained at the time of the crash.

LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and a routine toxicology sample was collected.
