“I care for my employees and to watch them not going to be able to have a job for a while is really freaking me out right now,” Megyeri said during a previous interview with FOX21 which can be viewed in the video player below.

Employees like Jordan Jenkins remembered arriving on the scene and the shock along with the fear that came with realizing how bad of a situation it was.

“We pulled up and the car was upside down right here,” Jenkins said. “We just worked for like the next 7 hours trying to clean up all of the glass… I kind of thought we were done, we were out, kind of crazy that we’re back, which is awesome.”

After the incident, Skirted Heifer created a GoFundMe page which has since raised $14,692 for the business.

“It’s been unreal,” Megyeri said. “It’s been a really humbling thing for me, honestly, making sure my employees didn’t have to bear the brunt of the bad work was something that was very scary to me because of one dude’s mistake, he had 22 people going to pay the price for it, in my spot alone, not getting paid being out of work.”

The dedicated actions of Megyeri to ensure his employees were able to stay afloat during this challenging time, truly shows the love and strength held deep in his heart.

“That was incredible,” Jenkins said. “I’m so grateful… I was so scared, especially that first week, we didn’t know what was going to happen, and then that GoFundMe went up and just kept going up by, like, the thousands a day. It was crazy and it kept us all good and able to come back and working.”

This southern Colorado staple saw an outpouring of love and support from the community, at a time when they needed it the most. Ultimately, helping rebuild the Skirted Heifer to once again fire up their grills and serve up their signature “cheese-skirt burgers.”

“It’s giving me chills,” Megyeri said. “I’m filled with nothing but love. [I’m] slightly an emotional guy, and I’m on the verge of tears, literally every day when I read Facebook comments, Facebook posts, people are sharing this and it’s just been a really, really welcoming experience, knowing that even through dark times, there’s people that… you don’t even know, and they’ll have your back.”

On Friday, April 19 Skirted Heifer posted to Facebook that the business would be reopening on Friday, April 26 with a soft opening on Thursday, April 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for anyone who donated to the GoFundMe.

“I wish I had everybody’s phone numbers personally that I can contact, but there’s a lot of anonymous donors that I just don’t even know and stuff like that,” Megyeri exclaimed. “So, it’s just one of those things, I really want to make sure I get to the people that took care of me. I get to take care of them now and just show that we have their back now too.”
