Sideshow in northwest Fresno shut down by police

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department shut down a sideshow in northwest Fresno Thursday night.

Police say they responded to the area of Palm and Herndon avenues around 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Dutch Bros for multiple cars in the parking lot, doing donuts and breaking traction.

When officers arrived police say they observed the sideshow in progress, however several of the people watching the sideshow confronted the officer and prevented him from stopping it.

When additional officers arrived they were able to stop and detain, several people who were participating or watching and aiding and abetting in the sideshow, police say.

Police say around thirty vehicles were surrounding the area and another couple dozen people were watching.

Four vehicles were impounded and are being towed on a thirty-day, impound, due to being, engaged in or participating in a sideshow for reckless driving, according to police.

Several people were cited on a misdemeanor offense.
