Showers and storms likely for Memorial Day

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — We are tracking a very potent storm system that has caused numerous tornadoes and wind damage reports from the central Plains to the Midwest. This system will finally drop southward into the southeast Monday bringing in showers and storms. A few thunderstorms could become severe.

Around daybreak Monday there will be a chance of a few showers and storms across the northern end of the viewing area as prefrontal energy moves through. Line of thunderstorms somewhat breaks apart which helps keep the atmosphere unstable for a secondary round through the evening hours.

These storms will likely produce heavy rainfall and gusty winds as they move through. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region under a level 2 out of 5 or a slight risk.

Come Tuesday temperatures will remain warm, but humidity levels will slowly drop as the front moves through. Noticeably cooler and drier air by Wednesday morning with lows in the mid 60s. End of next week will see highs in the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies.
