Sheriff’s office: Good Samaritans help crashed driver after medical episode on US-41
MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) — A man is in the hospital after two passersby stopped and helped him after seeing his crash on US-41.
A spokesperson for the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office tells Local 3 that a single-car crash was called in to dispatch shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
While it is unclear what information first responders had, but upon arriving to the area on US-41 east of Wolf Lake Road, they found a 79-year-old Humboldt Township man outside of a crashed truck with two other people.
The spokesperson said deputies believe the Humboldt man had a “slight medical issue” that caused him to black out briefly, leading to his vehicle crossing the center line, descending an embankment, and striking a guide wire for a power pole.
They say the truck continued down to hit several trees, and that while the air bags did not deploy, the man was secured by a seat belt. After witnessing this, the passersby stopped to help.
We’re told the man is expected to survive, being transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
