Presented by the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration, the school won $5,000.

Fred Wooton, Commissioner of the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration, says people getting the message about the dangers of drunk driving from their friends is more effective than through other means.

“I think the message resonates much louder when students hear it from their own peers as opposed to me preaching to these students. The message is louder and much clearer when they hear it from their peers,” said Wooton to 59News.

Commissioner Wooton presented the check in front of parents, students, and staff.

The money is being put toward the broadcasting program at Shady Spring High School.
