Sex assault suspect surprised DNA evidence found: docs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of forcing a woman to perform a sex act at gunpoint was surprised when investigators told him DNA evidence had been recovered, according to recently released court documents.

Alvin Raymond Carter, arrested earlier this month in connection with an alleged sex assault that happened in June 2023, said, “What,” adding he was surprised they found DNA, according to the documents. He went on to tell them he’s been mistaken for other people in the past.

Carter, 37, then asked for an attorney. When detectives left the interview room, he yelled “F—” repeatedly, documents said.

He’s facing charges of kidnapping, burglary and two sex-related offenses. He’s due in court next week.

The alleged victim said a white pickup raced toward her home in Oildale after midnight on June 17, 2023. It stopped and two men got out, one armed with a rifle.

She ran indoors and the armed man followed. He pointed the gun at her, the woman told detectives, then kicked open a bathroom door and forced her inside. He held the rifle to her as he forced her to perform a sex act, she told detectives.

He then left.

The woman’s husband told detectives one of the men — the names are redacted from the reports — had argued with him about an alleged theft or money owed. He said he ran when he saw the gun, according to the documents. He told detectives he didn’t know his wife had been sexually assaulted.
