SDPD searches for Clairemont Mesa West hit-and-run suspect

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Friday night, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department.

On Friday, April 19, around 10:40 p.m., authorities said the 34-year-old woman was walking in the Clairemont Mesa West area. They said she was walking southbound in the bicycle lane near the 1300 block of Genesee Avenue.

For unknown reasons, a vehicle headed southbound drifted into the bicycle lane and hit the pedestrian. Authorities said after the incident, the vehicle fled southbound on Genesee Avenue.

Investigators are now asking the public for help to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the hit and run. They said, based on evidence at the scene, the vehicle is likely a silver or grey 2016-2018 Toyota Prius that will have possible damage and a missing mirror on its passenger side.

Anyone with more information regarding the suspect and/or suspect’s vehicle is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or SDPD at 858-495-7823. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 in exchange for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
