School districts hold elections for board seats, bond issue

Apr. 3—Several area school districts held elections Tuesday, whether it was for open board seats or a bond issue.

Schools like Minco, Alex, Dibble, Blanchard and the Canadian Valley Technology Center held elections for the school board, and Cement held an election for a $4.2 million bond. All results from the Oklahoma Election Board are still unofficial until after 5 p.m. April 5.

The bond issue passed with flying colors in the Cement election. The bond passed with 57 yes votes (78.08%) to just 16 no votes (21.92%).

Kelby Ketchum had a strong showing in the Alex election for an open board seat. In the race for Office No. 4, Ketchum defeated Jonathan Mills with 125 votes (84.46%) and 23 votes (15.54%) for Mills.

Barry Carpenter was victorious in the race for Blanchard's Office No. 4, defeating Cindy Spaulding. Carpenter received 236 votes (61.62%), and Spaulding received 147 votes (38.38%).

In Dibble's race for Office No. 4, Stephen Swaim picked up 51 votes (56.67%). He defeated Sheri Phillips and 39 votes (43.33%).

Minco's Office No. 4 narrowly went to Jared Rumley. Rumley received 168 votes (52.01%) and won by 13 over Mike Herrel's 155 votes (47.99%).

Dean Riddell captured Office No. 1 in the Canadian Valley Technology Center race. He got 3,123 votes (62.67%), and Cotton Ruzicka received 1,860 votes (37.33%).
