The Huskies are the No. 1 seed in the East Region, which also includes No. 2 Iowa State, No. 3 Illinois and No. 4 Auburn, who won the Big 12, Big Ten and SEC tournaments, respectively, this weekend.

The other three No. 1 seeds — in order are Houston (South Region), Purdue (Midwest Region) and North Carolina (West Region).

Kentucky (23-9) received the No. 3 seed in the South Region and will open against No. 14 Oakland (23-11) on Thursday in Pittsburgh (7:10 p.m., CBS-27).

The other No. 2 seeds along with Iowa State were Marquette (South), Tennessee (Midwest) and Arizona (West).

Western Kentucky was awarded a No. 15 seed in the South Region and will play its first game against No. 2-seed Marquette on Friday (2 p.m., TBS) in Indianapolis.

Kentucky was one of eight teams selected from the Southeastern Conference, joined by Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Only the Big 12 received as many bids as the SEC.

The semifinals and finals in each region will be played March 30-31 at TD Garden in Boston (East), American Airlines Center in Dallas (South), Little Caesars Arena in Detroit (Midwest) and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (West).

The men’s Final Four is set for April 6 and 8 at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
