Sarasota Memorial Health Care System was recently named among the Top 150 places to work in healthcare by Becker's Healthcare, a leading source of healthcare information through its medical industry trade magazine, “Becker’s Hospital Review.”

The Illinois-based organization supplements its own research with government data and rankings from other organizations such as “U.S. News & World Report,” “Forbes, “Newsweek” and “Fortune.”

SMH was one of several health care systems in Florida listed among the 150 workplaces, along with Advent Health in Altamonte Springs; Halifax Health in Daytona Beach; Jackson Health System in Miami; the University of Miami Health System; Orlando Health; Tampa General Hospital; MobileHelp and Clear Arch Health in Boca Raton.

The Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital – all of which are based elsewhere but have hospital campuses in Florida – were on the list for the quality of the overall healthcare system.

In March, SMH earned a five-star ranking on Newsweek’s 2024 list of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women.”

In February, SMH was ranked in the top 20% among Forbes’ best large places to work, while in August, 2023, Forbes ranked SMH among the top four in its “Best in-state employers” list.

On that same list, it was the top employer headquartered in the Sunshine State.

Among the criteria used by Becker’s are workplace environment, employee engagement, and satisfaction.
