Santa Fe County firefighters extinguish Cerrillos mobile home fire

Apr. 22—The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause and origin of a mobile home fire Monday afternoon in the village of Cerrillos south of Santa Fe.

Santa Fe County firefighters responded to the home around 2 p.m., county spokeswoman Olivia Romo said Monday.

No one was injured in the fire — which also burned part of a woodpile and fence — and the firefighters were able to save the mobile home from destruction, according to Romo.

It was "It was fully extinguished and kicked down by around 3:30 p.m.," Romo said.

The single-wide mobile home appeared to be someone's residence, but no one was home when the county was dispatched to the fire, Romo said. She said she wasn't sure if the home's occupants had been notified as of Monday evening.

Romo said it was unclear whether the fire had started inside or outside of the residence.

"Further investigation is being undertaken by the state Fire Marshal's Office," Romo said.
