Sailors join Mercy Chefs in Portsmouth to help prepare meals

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — On Thursday, Mercy Chefs had sailors from the USS George H.W. Bush Aircraft Carrier volunteer at the Portsmouth Community Kitchen for the “Thousand Points of Light” Ship-Wide Day of Service.

This was done in collaboration with VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads. The sailors helped prepare meals at the Portsmouth Community Kitchen on Washington Street and served the meals at Park Place School. The Command Master Chief Nicholas Wallace was scheduled to be at the site between 7:30-8:30 a.m.
