Ronald McDonald House Charities collects over 500 pounds of pop tabs for charity event

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The Ronald McDonald House Charities holding its Pop-Tab Pandemonium Day.

They were at the McDonald’s in Enterprise where people came to drop off the tabs of canned sodas.

About five schools in the Wiregrass area participated in the contest — recycling tabs throughout the year to give to the organization but they received bags of tabs from the community too.

The schools donated over 500 pounds of pop tabs alone which helps the organization provide for families who are receiving medical treatment at Children’s of Alabama, UAB, or area hospitals.

“To us at the house that just means individuals care about what we do and understand we are there for families when they are going through a very hard time it’s just like that weight at the very beginning people know they are saving pop tabs for a very good cause,” RMHC Marketing and Communications Director Stephanie Langford said.

The organization would like to thank McDonald’s, participating schools, and community members who have donated or those who choose to round up the price when buying a meal.
