Rock Island moves to curb gun violence

Rock Island is moving forward with an initiative to curb gun violence.

City council unanimously passed a resolution to implement group violence intervention through a partnership between police and community organizations. The goal is to engage with people
who are at risk of criminal activity and offer them guidance before it’s too late. Rock Island Police were inspired by how the program was implemented in Davenport.

Donations from the John Deere Foundation and Quad Cities Community Foundation helped establish the program in Rock Island.
