Rivercrest ISD seeks $23M bond for facility renovations

BOGATA, Texas (KETK) – Rivercrest Independent School District said community members will be able to vote on a $23 million bond that will address aging facilities.

Onalaska ISD seeks $42M bond to build high school

“This building has been here for almost 60 years, and with any aging facility there are needed repairs,” Rivercrest ISD superintendent Tiffany Mabe said.

According to the school district, if the bond is passed, the funds will be used for districtwide projects including specific renovations at the junior high.

Districtwide projects:

  • New roofing

  • Replacement and relocation of the boiler system

  • Replace HVAC units at the high school and elementary campuses

  • Renovation and expansion of band hall and field house

Junior high specific projects:

  • Renovation to the security entrance

  • Upgrade lighting to LED

  • Renovate all restrooms and replace plumbing and fixtures

  • Crawl space drainage and improve erosion control

  • Gym renovations to include new bleachers, goals, exterior walls and floor

  • Renovation of the auditorium for new seating, sound system and lighting.

  • Cafeteria renovation and expansion to relocate appliances and make additional seating.

The school district said there would be a 12 cent tax rate impact associated.

“For the average home value of $113,462 in Rivercrest ISD, there will be a monthly impact of $2 if the bond referendum passes,” their website said.

People who are registered voters within Rivercrest ISD will be able to vote on the propositions through April 30 during early voting and on May 4 on Election Day.
