Rita’s Italian Ice announces Franklin County grand opening

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A new Rita’s Italian Ice in Franklin County recently announced their upcoming grand opening date.

abc27 news previously reported back in September when we first confirmed that a new Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard location would be opening on 731 Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg.

Recently, the new location shared on Facebook that they would officially be opening the doors to their newly constructed location on Wednesday, May 8. The new 1,500 square foot location will feature a wide variety of features such as:

  • Digital Drive Thru menu boards

  • Outdoor patio section for 60+ guests

  • 11 flavors of custard daily

  • War soft pretzel twists

  • Cold brew coffee

  • 70 Italian ice flavors

  • Custard cookie sandwiches and more!

A spokesperson with Rita’s Italian Ice previously said that the franchise owners of the location are Keila and Mark Trace, who also own and operate a Maryland-based Rita’s Italian Ice, which opened in June 2022.

Furthermore, Keila Trace previously shared that she had worked at the Chambersburg Rita’s 20 years ago, before it eventually closed back in 2016.

The new Rita’s Italian Ice location will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Memorial Day weekend. After Memorial Day, they will follow their summer hours which are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
