Reward being offered for Balboa Park felony hit and run

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are still searching for the suspect responsible for a traffic collision near Balboa Park that sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries earlier this month.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 54-year-old man was walking southbound in the 1300 block of Pershing Drive in a bicycle lane on Wednesday, April 3 around 8:15 p.m.

Officers said a vehicle traveling southbound drifted into the bicycle lane and struck the pedestrian before fleeing the scene on Pershing Drive. The man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities said the suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a black Toyota Camry of an older model between 2007-2012. The car possibly has a missing mirror and damage on the passenger side, they added.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 reward in exchange for more information regarding the incident. Anyone with details regarding the identity or location of the suspect and/or the involved vehicle is asked to contact SDPD at 858-495-7823 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
