Here are the results of Saturday's primary elections in Caddo Parish

Saturday saw voters in Caddo and Bossier Parishes take to the polls for the primary elections.

Henry Whitehorn made history by becoming the first Black person to be elected as Caddo Parish Sheriff, triumphing over John Nickelson in the election. Steffon Jones defeated Francine "Monro" Brown in the Caddo Commission District 6 race.

Here are the results of all of Saturday's primary municipal elections.

Outright election winners are in Bold and those who qualified for a runoff are in Bold Italic. Those who received more than 50% of the vote won their races. In cases where no one got to 50%, the top two vote-getters go on to face each other in the April 27 general election.

Sheriff

(Below totals reflect in-person, election day results only)

  • John Nickelson, Republican − 18,800 votes, 47%

  • Henry L. Whitehorn, Sr., Democrat − 21,147 votes, 53%

  • Voter Turnout: 25.9%

Parish Commission Member − District 6

  • Francine "Monro" Brown, Democrat − 975 votes, 45%

  • Steffon D. Jones, Democrat − 1,189 votes, 55%

  • Voter Turnout: 18.0%

Mayor, Town of Greenwood

  • Justin Davis, Republican − 341 votes, 67%

  • "Brad" Edwards, Republican − 170 votes, 33%

  • Voter Turnout: 23.9%

Alderman At Large, Greenwood

  • Gary V. Cook, Independent − 74 votes, 13%

  • Ardinia Birdsong Fredrick, Democrat − 145 votes, 26%

  • Jodi Larsen, Republican − 344 votes, 61%

  • Voter Turnout: 26.3%

Alderman − District 1, Town of Greenwood

  • Josephine Birdsong-Robinson, Democrat − 81 votes, 41%

  • Shannon Clemons, No Party − 122 votes, 60%

  • Voter Turnout: 32.4%

Alderman − District 2, Town of Greenwood

  • Shelby Coon, Independent − 44 votes, 39%

  • Jerry H. Steele, Republican − 69 votes, 61%

  • Voter Turnout: 22.6%

Alderman − District 4, Town of Greenwood

  • David Cox, Republican − 59 votes, 50%

  • Brad Driggers, Republican − 59 votes, 50%

  • Voter Turnout: 23.6%
