Report: Missouri nearly leads nation in failed driver’s license tests

MISSOURI – A new report finds that Missouri is one of the toughest states to pass a driver’s license test.

USA Today BLUEPRINT released a report last week that analyzes driver’s license test trends within the United States.

The report found Missouri to be the second-worst state in the nation when it comes to failed driver’s license tests, trailing only Indiana in failed test rates since 2020.

According to the report, Missouri was one of only three states in which people were more likely to fail than pass a driver’s license test. The state reported a failure rate of 51.3% for nearly 3 million tests over the last several years.

USA Today determined that Iowa had the best passing rate for U.S. states cited in the report with a nearly 65% to 35% pass-to-fail ratio in driver’s license tests.

The report crunched data from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, along with state organizations. It adds that taking a driver’s education course before taking a license test could help drivers save money on car insurance.
