Power 2016 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.SM The study is based on responses from more than 80,150 new-vehicle buyers or lessees about how gratifying their vehicles are to own after the first 90 days. These new models achieve scores that are, on average, 29 points higher (on a 1,000-point scale) in their introductory year than in the year before the redesign, although they tend to lose luster the following year with scores slipping by an average of 5 points, J.D. Power finds.

In the 2016 U.S. APEAL Study, some 22 new or significantly refreshed models earn higher scores than the respective segment average. According to the study, 68% of these launch models are non-premium and 32% are from premium brands.
