OSHKOSH ― Read Elementary School is set to host one big party this week to celebrate the completion of its new mural.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the neighborhood celebration will feature an authentic Mariachi band with free tacos and drinks at the adjacent playground.

Mural artist Neo Medina is expected to be in attendance while Oshkosh Area School District Superintendent Bryan Davis and Read Elementary Principal Emily Eisenschink are slated to give comments.

Graduations moved: Oshkosh North and West high schools are moving graduation ceremonies to UWO’s Kolf Sports Center. Here's why.

Led by Medina, the mural project was part of a larger effort revitalizing the playground and the elementary school’s surrounding areas.

The entire school body, several teachers and more than 40 community members helped Medina to paint the mural on the one-story corner of the school facing the rear playground areas.

The mural features portraits of students in bright colors and depicts the vibrant and diverse nature of the school body.
