The Ravenna City Schools Board of Education has launched its search for a new treasurer for the school district.

The board has contracted with Finding Leaders and the Educational Services Center of Northeast Ohio. The Ohio School Boards Association also recently made a pitch to the district.

Candi Lukat, treasurer of the Ravenna district since 2021, resigned in March.

Dr. Laura Hebert, superintendent of the district, said the Educational Service Center will underwrite the search cost. The closing date for the job posting is May 3.

"The district has worked with the ESC and Finding Leaders in the past," Hebert said. "While the OSBA presentation was thorough, when compared with the ESC, the package was similar in nature. And the ESC will conduct the search at no cost to the district."

Finding leaders, a school search firm, helped the district find Hebert in 2021, and its treasurer in 2018 and 2016.

Until a new treasurer is hired, Sherry Tyson and Ryan Pendleton are overseeing the district's financial operations through a contract with the ESC and Northcoast Shared Services Alliance. Tyson is a retired treasurer from Youngstown City Schools, and Pendleton is the former treasurer for Akron Public Schools and is also contracted with the North Coast Alliance.
