Ravenna Schools treasurer resigns

Candi Lukat, treasurer for the Ravenna City School District since October 2021, is resigning.

The district issued a statement that Lukat has "decided to pursue other opportunities" after 2 1/2 years with the district. Her resignation is effective March 31.

Sherry Tyson and Ryan Pendleton will oversee the district's financial operations through a contract with theEducational Services Center of Northeast Ohio and Northcoast Shared Services Alliance. Tyson is a retired treasurer from Youngstown City Schools, and Pendleton is the former treasurer for Akron Public Schools and is also contracted with the North Coast Alliance.

"Their combined expertise will ensure seamless financial management while the district conducts a thorough search for a permanent replacement," the district stated.

The district said the search for Lukat's replacement will begin soon.

"The Ravenna School District is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the trust and confidence of our stakeholders during this period of change," the district stated.

Lukat started her career as director of grants and funded programs in Cleveland Metropolitan School District, where she served for 14 years. She also was treasurer at Kenston Local School District in Bainbridge, and controller of San Diego Unified School District in California. Just before coming to Ravenna, she was the business manager in Southern Door County School District in Wisconsin.
